The Mini Helicopter demonstrates the mechanical principles behind rotor based flight. Its main rotor and tail rotor replicate the real world system in which lift and directional stability are achieved through spinning blades. By turning the rubber band motor’s ratchet key, potential energy is stored as torsion in the band. When released, this energy transfers through gears to rotate the wheels and rotor mast, creating motion and illustrating mechanical energy conversion.

Although the model does not fly, it accurately captures key helicopter mechanics: coordinated rotor movement, stabilising rear rotor rotation, and directional control through cockpit design. Observing the open interior allows builders to understand how gear trains, tension, and rotational systems work together to create movement making it both an engaging puzzle and an educational demonstration of aeronautical engineering.
