Want to own a creature older than any dinosaur? Trilobites went extinct a quarter of a billion years ago and have become a favourite of fossils hunters around the world.
Trilobites flourished during the Palaeozoic Era, when complex lifeforms began to thrive on earth. They survived for up to 300 million years and evolved into at least 20,000 identifiable species, all of which died out before dinosaurs even existed! They have left behind some of the most distinctive and beautiful fossils for keen palaeontologists to find. They are easily identified by their segmented bodies, which were covered in hard-shells that they regularly shed during growth. Their closest living relatives are thought to include spiders, mites, scorpions and horseshoe crabs.
Giant Microbes are excellent teaching aids as they assist students to develop an understanding of biology while taking a fun, hands on approach. No dissection required here!
Trilobite Giant Microbe is 170 x 100 x 50mm, made of purple medium-pile polyester plush with polyester filling and plastic eyes.
Not for children under three years of age as parts may dislodge and become a choking hazard.
