Silly Birds is the first book in a series of morality tales beautifully written and illustrated by Gregg Dreise. In this humble and humorous tale, Maliyan, a proud eagle who always looks, listens and sees things from a long way away, meets the turkey Wagun, who is a silly bird, and together these two new friends begin to do silly-bird things.
The Elders and Maliyan's parents become very disappointed with the two and soon the local billabong becomes a mess. Maliyan begins to see the error of his ways and begins the journey of listening again. Soon all the birds are listening to Maliyan, except one, the turkey. It is hard to soar like an eagle when you are surrounded by turkeys.
Suggested for ages five to eight years.
