Zika virus is an mosquito-borne disease that is transmitted through the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito. These mosquitos usually strike in the day and are found in the tropics of Africa, Asia and South America. Symptoms include fever, rash and joint pain. There is no current specific treatment or vaccine, but drinking plenty of fluids and getting good rest often helps recovery.
