Earthworms are really important in agriculture, as they churn up the soil, allowing air to pass through. They are also great at decomposing plants and animals which gives the soil nutrients. It’s thought that in some places, growing crops would not be possible without these little guys!

To use Worm Farm, simply collect some soil and layer it with the yellow and red sand (included) into the clear, sturdy plastic bottle that is provided. The colourful six page instruction guide, complete with diagrams, provides information about collecting worms, what to feed them and the different parts of a worm. Watch as the worms move through the soil and try some fascinating experiments such as seeing how far they can move the coloured gravel through their new home. The clear bottle allows for easy viewing of your new slithering critters but the kit does come with a privacy screen to keep the worms in darkness.
