Lighthouses have been constructed since the mid-18th century to alert passing ships to the many hazards of the coastline. The cylindrical tapered cone shape was the most structurally stable shape that was able to withstand the winds and fierce storms common to coastlines and islands. Once manned by a lighthouse keeper to keep watch over the light in the evenings, the majority of lighthouses are now automated and remotely operated.
The Metal Earth series are amazing 3D models to build from laser cut steel sheets.
Incredibly detailed, these fascinating models are definitely a challenge to build. Care and patience are required, but the results are well worth the effort. Long-nosed pliers are also recommended (not included). This is one of the simpler ones, and takes about forty-five minutes to complete.
Recommended for ages 14 and over. Due to their small size, Metal Earth models should be kept out of the reach of children under three years of age.
