White blood cells are ready to defend you to the death (theirs, not yours!) against bacteria, viruses and any other foreign cells or objects like a splinter. They will even try to beat cancer cells, which is hard because those renegades can look almost the same as a normal cell. White blood cells are less commonly transfused than red blood cells or platelets, and are kept for very special cases, such as some cancers. Leukemia is a group of cancers which produce abnormal white blood cells, which don't work properly. So if you know someone who needs a transfusion, roll up your sleeves and donate blood, but give them a Giant Microbe White Blood Cell to cheer them up as well!
Ideal as distraction and demonstration aids when children are undergoing treatment, Giant Microbes also make excellent teaching aids as they assist students to develop an understanding of biology while taking a fun, hands on approach. Why not team up the Giant Microbe White Blood Cell with Platelet and Red Blood Cell as a set?
White Blood Cell is 170mm high, 140mm wide and 30mm thick, made of white (what else?) medium pile polyester plush with polyester filling and plastic eyes.
Not for children under three years of age as parts may dislodge and become a choking hazard.
