Rabies is commonly associated with dogs, but can infect any warm blooded animal, including humans. In Australia, rabies is not found in terrestrial animals, there is a related virus in bats, the Australian Bat Lyssavirus which can be spread to humans. Definitely a case of prevention being better than cure - preventative vaccines are available but treatment is expensive, painful, and must be administered soon after exposure to infection. Giant Microbe Rabies won't bite or foam at the mouth, though its bloodshot eyes do make it look a bit mad! A novel gift for a veterinary friend or dog lovers in general.
Giant Microbes also make excellent teaching aids as they assist students to develop an understanding of biology while taking a fun, hands on approach.
Not for children under three years of age as parts may dislodge and become a choking hazard.
Rabies is 135mm long, 80mm wide and 80mm thick, made of red and pink medium pile polyester plush with polyester filling and embroidered eyes.
