Poster child of the microscopic world, a popular subject for budding microbiologists.
Paramecia are single cell protozoa that are great subjects for microscopic cellular study - they are easy to find, the cells are large and display many structures. Paramecium lives in water preferably stagnant warm water and eats bacteria, yeasts and algae. Giant Microbe Paramecium doesn't require squinting down a microscope and makes an excellent tactile as well as visual teaching aid as it assists students to develop an understanding of biology while taking a fun, hands on approach.
Not for children under three years of age as parts may dislodge and become a choking hazard.
Paramecium is 205mm long, 70mm wide and 35mm thick. Its mid blue long silky pile polyester plush does a great impersonation of cilia and it has many embroidered features depicting internal cell structures. It has polyester filling and plastic eyes.
