No bull, this can be serious! This is not a virus or bacterium (it's far smaller), it's not even alive (so it can't be killed). This disease is caused by self replicating proteins. They can then stick together into long rods, the model for this Giant Microbe. The disease causes spongy degeneration of the brain (bovine spongiform encephalitis). This impacts coordination and balance which leads to staggering, aggression and foaming at the mouth, hence the name Mad Cow Disease. In cows the disease can show no symptoms for up to five years but kill within a few weeks of visible symptoms.

Giant Microbes make excellent teaching aids as they assist students to develop an understanding of biology while taking a fun, hands on approach.

Not for children under three years of age as parts may dislodge and become a choking hazard.

Mad Cow is 205mm long, 60mm wide and 50mm thick, made of black on white cow print (what else?) medium pile polyester plush with polyester filling and plastic eyes. Each pattern on the Mad Cow Giant Microbe is unique so they stand out from the herd.
