Who else loves their immune system? Antibody? Antibody?
An important microbe to have, an antibody is produced by the immune system when it detects harmful microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses and parasites (called antigens) within the body’s system. The antibody identifies and tags harmful antigens to allow other parts of the immune system to attack them or can defuse antigens directly by itself. The immune system sometimes mistakes healthy tissue as harmful and will produce antibodies to attack this tissue, this is called an autoimmune disorder.
Giant Microbes make excellent teaching aids as they assist students to develop an understanding of biology while taking a fun, hands on approach.
Not for children under three years of age as parts may dislodge and become a choking hazard.
Antibody is Y-shaped and is 210mm long, 210mm wide and 40mm thick (at widest parts), made of yellow and orange medium-pile polyester plush with polyester filling and plastic eyes. The attachable antigen is 60mm high, 60mm wide and 20mm thick and made of red medium-pile polyester plush with polyester filling and plastic eyes.
