From boiling an egg to timing classroom rotations, this 3 Minute Timer is the perfect sized timer for keeping track of small tasks.
Luitprand, an eighth century French monk, was the first person to use an hourglass to measure time. Although it is known as an ‘hourglass’, the times measured varied between 15 minutes to one hour. Most hourglasses did not use sand, rather the most accurate devices used powdered marble, tin and lead oxides and pulverised burnt eggshells.
This simple hourglass has black sand keeping time as it falls from one vessel to the other. It measures three minutes making it perfect for timing small tasks while also bringing some ancient charm to your home or classroom.
